NEW BLOG SITE

Kelly and I accomplished our goal together! Awesome experience for best friends!

I am going to continue to journal about my running because I have found it to be a HUGE aid in accountability. Knowing I will write about it and track my mileage makes me want to run!

If you would like to continue following me, come and see me here! I have a new running blog!

5 on a beautiful day

Last week I had a really bad chest cold and decided to sit it out. It was very hard mentally to not run for a week, especially after having the rest from the half marathon but I forced myself to do it. My body appreciated it.

Although I had some weird ankle pain while I ran today. I've had it once before and ice seemed to fix it. Hoping ice works again!

I have a friend who is training for a triathlon and now she has given me the fever! Kelly Ann will be here this weekend for the kid's birthdays so I am going to put the triathlon bug in her ear too! Jeremy is REALLY interested in it but it would mean we have to invest in bikes. We shall see!

Hoping to do nail down my next race SOON!

cold and windy 5.1 mile run!

If you would like to know how the wind felt during the half marathon last week and you live in Texas, go outside and run! Oh and add 30 degrees to the temperature! After running in the wind last Sunday at the race, I feel like I could run anything. It was a great confidence booster!

I hear that the hardest run is the run after a race. You take a week off to allow your muscles to heal and you rest. That week is torture by the way!!!!!!! I wanted to run so bad!!! But I waited until today. Honestly, I think the run AFTER the week off is great!!!

I love running! It is my medicine!

Back to training,

freezing 4

I got some running pants today. You know the cute, tight ones that goes just below the knee? Yes, those are the ones. Now I don't know how cute I actually look in them but I had to have them for this cold weather. They felt great!!!! I won't be wearing them for the race because it will be warmer but they were great for tonight's run!

4 miles!

3 tomorrow and 2 on Friday and 13.1 on SUNDAY!!!

Now I am getting excited!!!

the last long run before the race- 10

Just got back from 10 miles. I think I am still going to run sleeveless in the race. I got so hot today in a short sleeve. I will have a warm up jacket I can toss and some gloves. Usually I get hot in the 2nd mile so I am praying NOW for awesome weather a week from tomorrow!!!

Today I forced myself to run a lot slower than I usually do and I must say that I HATED it. But it would have been really stupid to run all out and possibly hurt myself so I went nice and easy.

This week I have a very easy week. 4, 3, 2, rest, rest, RACE!

One week from tomorrow I will be running the 1/2!!

Excited!

I'm still in...

It's been a while since I've posted. I was out for about 3 weeks with a weird hip thing. As I started to re-train, I realized that I will be unable to run the 1/2 marathon like I had hoped. I thought about just quitting and not doing it at all. But I decided since I paid the money I was at least going to walk this thing! :) And besides...I have a tendency to quit when things get hard. I was determined not to quit this time...even if I had to crawl across that finish line.

I'm not giving up running though. My husband and I talked a lot about what the sport has brought to my life these past few months. I am not going to quit!! I decided that after the first of the year, I would begin training again...just a little slower this time. :) My end goal is to run the 1/2 marathon next December. I am going to take this next year slow and steady.

PS - Amanda, I am so incredibly proud of you! You have trained well for this race on SO many levels. I can't wait for the 14th! Even though I will be walking behind you, I will be cheering you on the entire way. I can't wait for next year...when I'll be running NEXT to you! :) I love you!
