(Someone asked me why I don't share my time or pace on here when I write about my runs. Well, I told Kelly Ann (my best friend in Dallas who co-authors this blog with me) to not get caught up in "times" and I do not want her to think she needs to be doing what I am doing. My friend Heidi is a part of a running group that does not share mileage or time because it can really mess up your training if you are comparing yourself to other runners. Easy trap to fall into, bad one to stay in! Lately I have had some moments worth bragging about but I share them with Heidi because we are on similar paths. Although she is FASTER and I am proud of her for it!)
Went on another "crazy fast" run with Heidi tonight.
Run two at a certain pace, jog for two minutes. (Folks, this certain pace is crazy fast!)
Run two again at the crazy fast pace, jog for two minutes.
Run two easy. (This is when we talk and laugh. Until now, no talking. Just cussing.)
The first two I stayed at a pace I did not think I could hold for two miles but I did! It was NOT Heidi's pace but I could see her. The second two continued to be at a pace I normally would not stay at but it was slower than the first two and half way into it, I could barely see Heidi's ponytail bobbing! The two miles always ended at the church. Heidi was waiting on me and instantly says, "I'm so proud of you Amanda." All I could say was, "Are you kidding? YOU are amazing but I sing better than you!" It was a joke we both laughed at. Of course I only said this to her because she does not sing. :) She really is the most amazing runner. WOW! All of this will embarrass her and she will kill me but we had a chuckle when I said, "I feel like a marshmallow running next to a pixie stick!" Those legs she has! I covet those long legs!
It's great having a friend to run with. We have laughed so much on these runs over the last year. I love this friendship and I love that we have this to do together. This is why I am so excited that Kelly Ann is running. I am so excited we get to experience this together!
Running with friends and Running to December,
Amanda
